Laser skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, and laser skin resurfacing are more effective when the right treatments are combined. Since each person’s skin is unique, we don’t limit our practice to just one type of treatment or laser. Each client receives a customized treatment program that may include skin resurfacing, skin tightening, and treatment for dark spots, acne scars, or wrinkles using a combination of lasers, injectables, and topical treatments.
What is Laser Genesis?
We like to think of our Laser Genesis treatments as laser facials. Laser Genesis uses non-ablative Nd:YAG laser energy to penetrate the epidermis and enter the dermis, where the energy encourages new production of collagen. We use Laser Genesis to improve fine lines, redness, rosacea, and acne scarring, among other skin issues.
What is Claro?
Claro is an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment specifically for acne. Claro features a proprietary Energy Delivery System that delivers a series of IPL pulses in 6 seconds. This light energy penetrates the skin and targets the p.acnes bacteria residing in the inflamed sebaceous glands at the base of the hair follicles. Overproduction of oil in the sebaceous glands is the cause of acne. The glands cannot distribute the oil quickly enough and the glands clog. This allows the p.acnes bacteria to multiply, irritating the skin and causing a breakout. Claro’s IPL energy kills the bacteria in these clogged pores.
What is MicroTight RF?
MicroTight RF combines the skin improvement of microneedling with radiofrequency energy. In stand-alone microneedling, the microscopic needles in the handpiece oscillate up and down penetrating the skin to a depth of up to 0.6mm. As the handpiece is moved across the treatment areas, the microneedles create hundreds of punctures. This improves outer skin texture and encourages the skin’s healing mechanisms to improve the overall appearance and health of the skin.
Radiofrequency energy has been used for years to trigger a wound-healing mechanism in the dermis, the skin’s second layer. The RF energy is applied to the outer epidermis and it penetrates this layer, entering the dermis where the RF energy converts to heat energy. When the body senses heat in the dermis layer of the skin it assumes there has been a wound. It responds by remodeling the existing collagen at the site of the perceived wounds (although there are not any actual wounds), but the real results come from the body initiating new collagen production to “heal” the perceived wounds. This improves the skin from within, thickening and firming the skin with new collagen, elastin, and new skin cells.
By combining microneedling with RF energy, MicroTight RF delivers the benefits of both treatments at once. When the microneedling tips reach their maximum depth, MicroTight RF emits a burst of RF energy beneath the epidermis. This energy directly enters the dermis, without having to first penetrate the epidermis. This allows MicroTight RF to deliver higher levels of RF energy into the dermis because there aren’t any concerns about damaging the outer epidermis. Higher levels of RF energy increase the wound-healing response, further improving your results.
What is the Excel V laser?
The Excel V laser from Cutera is effective at treating a number of conditions on all skin tones. The Excel V combines a unique design and a longer laser wavelength to safely and effectively treat a broad range of issues with blood vessels, everything from spider veins to deep blue reticular veins. The laser energy also is excellent for benign pigmented lesions and sun-damaged areas of the skin.
How is laser rejuvenation done?
All of the treatments listed above are non-invasive. There isn’t any recovery because the laser energy is delivered down into the dermis layer of the skin, bypassing the outer epidermis. This avoids harming the outer skin. These treatments take from 15-30 minutes and are not painful.
Is there recovery after laser rejuvenation treatment?
This isn’t any recovery where the patient needs to stay in bed or miss work or something like that. Following these procedures, the skin is usually red; it’s as if the patient has a mild sunburn. This lasts from just an hour with Laser Genesis to up to a couple of days with MicroTight RF. These are easy-to-tolerate treatments whose results build as the body increases collagen production as a response to the laser energy. With Claro, as the p.acnes bacteria is killed breakouts calm and the overall skin condition improves.
One thing that is true with any of these procedures is that your skin needs to be protected from sun exposure for a period of at least two weeks afterward. This is because the laser or IPL energy can break down some of the skin’s natural protection against the sun’s UV radiation. Applying 30+ SPF sunscreen or wearing protective clothing is necessary for a couple of weeks.
Laser rejuvenation potential side effects
Because they are non-invasive, these are safe treatments without much in the way of possible side effects. As noted above, the main side effect is slight redness across the treatment areas. This generally is very short-lived.
"I am so thrilled with the work I’ve received at Power MD! Each experience I’ve had has been pleasant from beginning to end, and I have been more than satisfied with my results. I recently relocated across the state, but I still only trust Power MD with my face. It’s been difficult for me to find a MedSpa that I can consistently rely on for natural results, and I’m so grateful to have found Dr. Karron and her team."
